    Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented commercial lawyer to be based in Beijing to support Amazon Web Services in China. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.

    This attorney will primarily support AWS's infrastructure team in China, including facility operations, related procurement, and compliance. This attorney will have primary transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on a variety of deals, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. He or she will be expected to support other AWS teams and initiatives as well. The role also provides day-to-day business and intellectual property law counseling, administers and resolves legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, and handles pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

    The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic, and enjoy working hard in a fun, team-oriented environment and being continually challenged. He or she must demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Compensation based on experience and includes equity.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and law school
    • Licensed to practice law in China and/or the US, UK or other common law jurisdiction
    • Strong transactional experience, and in-depth understanding of Chinese law and practices
    • 6+ years of legal experience (with several years of experience at a leading global law firm and/or in-house at a major multinational corporation)
    • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills in both English and Chinese (Mandarin)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiar with data center operations, procurement, IT infrastructure, and telecommunications
