As a member of the Security Analytics team for Amazon Information Security you will be joining a team of talented and energetic security professionals responsible for detecting and analyzing information security threats across Amazon and its subsidiaries.

Responsibilities of this role include:
  • Research, identify, and create new ways of applying data science for security relevant detections.
  • Work closely with partner teams to extend data capabilities, understand where automation necessary.
  • Create new, analyze existing, and improve all detection models.
  • Develop focused detections based on threat intelligence.
  • Mentor and foster data science amongst interested collaborative teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated use of modeling and optimization techniques tailored to meet business needs and proven achievements in practical production systems.
  • Experience handling large datasets and applying a variety of statistical tools (e.g., descriptive statistics, regressions, Factor Analysis, reliability/validity, regression, ANOVA, t-tests)
  • Experience with data manipulation and mining (e.g., joins in SQL, data warehousing, ETL)
  • Scripting and statistical software knowledge, including Python and R.
  • Technical knowledge of depth in at least one of Systems/Host, Network, or Cloud Security.
  • Strong knowledge of current security threats, trends, attacker techniques, and methods to detect and mitigate them at the host, network, application layers.
  • BS or BA in quantitative field, such as Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Security, related discipline, or equivalent work experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g. DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP/S, BGP and other routing protocols)
  • Explicit industry experience with data science, statistical modeling methods, and security detections.
  • Proven history of mentoring team members
  • Experience and detailed technical knowledge of security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security.
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services big data technologies.
