We are the Amazon Business Payments Experience team, and we’re looking for a talented leader for our most critical and exciting product, Pay By Invoice.

Amazon Business is a marketplace on Amazon.com that combines the selection, convenience and value customers have come to know and love from Amazon, with new features and unique benefits that address the needs of businesses. We launched on Amazon.com on April 28th 2015. In June 2016, we publicly announced that we generated over US $1B in revenues in our first 12 months. The potential Business-to-Business (B2B) market in the US is twice that of the consumer marketplace everyone knows Amazon.com for ($8 trillion compared to a $4 trillion). More than 80% of that business is conducted using invoicing. Pay By Invoice is our gateway to that opportunity.

Pay By Invoice is a core component of Amazon Business's strategy. We need to build experiences that allow enterprise customers to move their planned spend on a recurring basis to Amazon. Enterprise customers want to leverage Amazon Business to access hundreds of millions of products, business-only selection, free two-day shipping, business pricing, multi-user business accounts, approval workflow, business payment solutions, tax exemptions, dedicated business customer support and much more. None of this is possible without Payments, and for businesses that means Pay By Invoice.

Pay By Invoice is being delivered by the Amazon Business Payments Experience team. Our charter is to invent new ways for customers to pay for their purchases. Most online payments tools are stuck in 1994: fill out a form, shipping details, billing address, click submit. Our goal is to do for payments what Amazon has done for online shopping in general… make it as painless and friction-free as possible, on as many platforms and devices as we can. We have a tough and critical roadmap, but we also have fantastic leaders and mentors to help get us there.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing software teams building distributed systems and/or large scale mobile applications utilizing Agile methodologies.
  • Deep, hands-on technical expertise in high scale, service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience hiring, building and mentoring high-performance engineering teams.
  • Experience in full stack - front end web development environments to back end systems.
  • Experience in shipping multiple generations of the same product, and learning from each major release.
  • Experience operating products, analyzing software performance, and striving for the highest standards of customer experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 10 years experience professionally developing software in an Object Oriented Programming (OOP) language like Java, C++, C# or Scala Experience building and developing strong technical teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Clear, professional communication skills able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions.
  • Experience building decoupled systems with rich user experience that can be built on a variety of platforms (mobile preferred) with a correspondingly complex backend with rich data services and business logic.
  • Proactively and continually improve their level of knowledge about Amazon’s business and relevant technologies, and use this knowledge to deliver high quality, accurate software deliverables.
  • Strong business and technical vision.
