Job Description

Amazon is searching for industry-leading professionals to join our AWS Load Balancing network team. We own the design, capacity management & scaling, availability and operational excellence of the global networks that power Amazon Web Services. We push our networks to their limit; traditional network vendors simply cannot deliver cost effective solutions capable of meeting our requirements for availability, performance or flexibility. In AWS Networking, we invent, design, refine and then we invent again.

We are building a scalable distributed system to manage the distribution of: libraries, modules and device configuration for thousands of heterogeneous devices in dozens of data centers across the world. These systems enable backend workflows to manage automated, planned and unplanned deployments supporting both roll-back and automatic failover. We are building services to expose device-independent, well defined and abstracted APIs around network elements to build application level networking software. This allows us to build robust network management applications that provide significantly improved control, visibility and predictability for Amazon’s global network.

As one of Amazon’s fastest growing compute services, we are looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to operate as a business owner for the product; engaging customers, setting strategy, defining a product roadmap, working with engineering to deliver and then working with marketing and sales to turn your plan into a business success.

Responsibilities of this role include:
  • Driving feature development and prioritization of the product roadmap, customer segmentation and pricing, and demand generation for key components of the Load Balancing offering.
  • Working with the engineering and program management leads to set strategy, define the product, and make the hard, high-judgment trade-offs between performance, features, and speed-to-market.
  • Performing analysis needed for a complete business model, including financial (P&L) models, customer segmentation, competitive analysis, pricing analysis, etc. Complete product management analysis and artifacts, including market requirements, feature roadmap, and customer experience artifacts.
  • Building a complete marketing plan, including branding, marketing, distribution, PR plan, and communications strategy, including execution of the plan through the various launches on the Load Balancing roadmap.
In this highly visible position you will interact with the management team within Load Balancing and have an opportunity to affect change across the broader organization.

Basic Qualifications

· Passionate about load balancing and/or distributed systems
· 5 or more years experience in product management in the technology space
· Proven track record in delivering technology products/services in a high growth environment
· Experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and effectively influence across cross functional teams
· Knowledge of consumer related metrics, funnel analysis, conversion, consumer acquisition and retention and go to market strategies for technology product and services
· Bachelor's degree in technology or technology management related field.

Preferred Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or an engineering field with an MBA.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
· Ability to think strategically and at the same time stay on top of tactical execution
· Curiosity to dig several layers deep into metrics, to understand key drivers and whether they are the correct or best metrics to measure/manage a business or process
· Have a desire to participate in change and appreciate a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities
· Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
· Commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment, having managed business models, customer and market segmentation, marketing plans, sales support/field marketing, and pricing for Internet services or enterprise software products
