Job Description

We are looking for an experienced UI Engineer to join the world's most authoritative source for movie, TV, and celebrity content - IMDb!

The IMDb consumer site (www.imdb.com) is the #1 movie website in the world with a combined web and mobile audience of more than 250 million unique monthly visitors and it's one of the Top 30 websites in the US. We are an independent subsidiary of Amazon making extensive use of AWS technologies. IMDb needs a UI Engineer to play a central role in the design and development of customer-facing applications and services. You should have a proven track record of turning customer needs into elegant, user-centered designs, as well as implementing those designs in the presentation layer by using smart, clean development patterns.


Our ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for front end technology but also has experience with full stack coding.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to convert a design document into a working user interface but with no loss in fidelity
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years professional experience developing front-end experiences using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS across a range of client devices from desktops to mobile platforms
  • Proficiency in Java
  • Familiarity with mobile platform application UI delivery
  • Knowledge of usability principles, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility best practices and HTML document architecture
  • Experience writing JavaScript unit tests
  • Experience with developing CSS using SASS or LESS
  • Ability to convert design mockups to working user interfaces with full fidelity and minimal oversight

Preferred Qualifications

  • An abiding love of movies and/or TV
  • Experience with React and Redux
  • Experience with JS unit testing in Jasmine or Morcha
  • A desire and passion to create innovative experiences for IMDb users
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience developing full stack web applications using Perl, Java, Python or PHP
  • Experience with continuous integration/continous deployment
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) principles, microformats and schema integration.
  • Deep understanding of a range of JavaScript toolkits and open-source libraries
