The Amazon Social Profile Team lets customers manage their social identity on Amazon. It acts as a central hub for all social experience on Amazon, propelling the shift to Profile Engagement . The Team acts as the custodian of the Profile experience, maintaining a high bar for visual and IA consistency, regardless of whether the Profile experience is rendered on our own platform or that of another team.
We’re a strong team of engineers, product managers, and UX designers focused on delivering features that customers find useful to their Amazon social shopping experience In 2016, the profile experience was launched worldwide, together with its supporting services for customer avatars and privacy settings management. Our vision is to empower all Amazon entities (customers, brands, sellers, and other influencers) to deepen social connections and build their audience on Amazon, in order to help shoppers with discovery and post-purchase enjoyment of their products.
We expect that all entities will take pride in their Profile and regularly use it as a way to manage their social identity on Amazon. Our platforms will enable discoverability and engagement through entity search, follow, and badging. For customers, we will power personalization across all Amazon experiences, leveraging implicit and explicit preferences data that is easily managed through their Profile. Entities will think of their Profile as a critical component of the Amazon CX, not only due to its navigational utility, but also because it is a central hub for many social experiences. We will create incentives and reward systems to recognize entities who positively contribute to helping Amazon remain the preferred shopping destination for customers.
The Profile is evolving to be the central hub of the Amazon social ecosystem. While it’s been around since 2009, it is being rewritten from the ground up to support the growing social aspects of shopping on Amazon. It will tie together relevant data from several different teams using the in-progress widget framework. We work on the Profile experience, solving how to give customers the best tools for controlling their identity to the Amazon community. Customers currently can upload an avatar, complete their bio, and control the visibility of their community contributions. We work on Follow, solving how to connect customers with authors, brands, interests, and other customers to deliver them updates on new books, products, and reviews. And we work on Badging, solving how to incentivize and reward customers for high-quality reviews and answers for a specific interest area.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE , L6 ) to work on the programs we support , a collaborative team member with the ability to work in a diverse team. The SDE will be involved in creating design and architectures for highly scalable systems, execute on the implementation, plan and execute launches of features, and address operational improvements. The SDE will work with a talented team of software engineers focused on building scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. In addition, the SDE will collaborate with product managers, designers, and researchers to innovate and rapidly validate new opportunities.
