Job Description

Amazon is seeking an income tax senior analyst to join its state and local direct tax reporting team. The Amazon tax department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. This position will be responsible for the preparation of state income tax filings and will assist in state income tax research and analysis. This position will also provide support to various other Amazon tax teams, including Amazon’s tax provision team.

Income Tax Compliance Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review state and local income tax returns, state modification calculations, multi-state allocation and apportionment calculations, and calculation and documentation of state credits
• Drive process improvement and automation and technology implementation throughout the income tax compliance process
• Participate in the estimated tax payment process

Tax Research & Analysis Responsibilities:
• Research and analyze various state and local income tax issues
• Development of models to forecast consequences of various tax positions, corporate M&A transactions, pending legislation and new business initiatives

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • Minimum four years of relevant experience in Public Accounting and/or industry

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Taxation
  • Certification as CPA
  • Technically proficient and have strong accounting, analytical, financial modeling and research skills
  • Strong income tax operational experience including preparation of income tax compliance and reporting obligations for US multinational organizations
  • Tax provision experience and understanding of accounting pronouncements
  • Experience in supporting audit defense
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, Oracle, and CorpTax
