Software Development and Service Operations Leader – Massively Scalable Cloud Storage Service

Elastic File System (EFS) is the newest AWS storage service poised for massive scale as it serves hundreds of thousands of customers (and beyond). EFS is a unique file storage service that provides low-latency, shared concurrent file system access to tens of thousands of EC2 instances and on-premises datacenter applications. It is a distributed, highly-available, durable file storage service that is fully elastic. Today, file storage represents over 80% of global data storage and we see EFS as being in a position to serve the vast majority of our customer’s file store needs.

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to help us grow this cloud storage business. In this role you will be a member of the senior leadership team and technical leader responsible for all service development and operations. You will be responsible for thinking big, setting goals, direction and priorities, developing and realizing roadmaps, building technical teams and developing their careers, iteratively delivering high-quality software that is indistinguishable from perfect and that exceeds our customer expectations, and for maintaining operational excellence for the service.

This position within the File Services team represents a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast growing business and help shape the technology, product and the business. A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise, strong business acumen and judgment, ability to define and deliver visionary ground breaking products, ability to hire and lead a team, desire to have an industry wide impact, and ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company to rapidly deliver services that have a broad business impact.

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years professional experience in commercial system software development and delivery
  • 10+ years of experience building, leading, managing and developing high-performance engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge in software and systems architecture, design and implementation
  • Experience building high performance scalable computing systems
  • Experience operating highly scalable and highly available computing infrastructurDemonstrated ability owning and driving results in an innovative and fast paced environment
  • Possess strong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities in the face of ambiguityDemonstrated ability to formulate data driven decisions that lead to results
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects
  • Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence and negotiate
  • Demonstrated passion for people leadership, management and mentoring
  • Proven ability to navigate complex unstructured cross-functional environment
  • Possess strong persuasive verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience as Product Owner within Agile/SCRUM enterprise-scale software development environment
