Job Description

If you know IMDb, then you know we are the world’s most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content and probably wouldn’t be surprised that we reach an audience of over 250 million unique visitors a month. Are you a software engineer who gets deeply excited about the idea of bringing the best of IMDb video to the world? If so, we’d love to talk with you.

IMDb is going BIG on video and we are looking for engineers as part of our core video team. You’ll be part of a full-stack, small team working on building intuitive video experiences that engage and delight IMDb customers. Video is a new investment for IMDb and a long-term strategic play, so there’s a big opportunity for you to have a major, lasting impact to our business. If you love solving hard problems, have strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, object-oriented design and algorithms) and a demonstrated competence in designing reusable, maintainable and performant software written in a modern high-level language (Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Javascript, Go) then this just might be your next challenge. It’s not required, but if you have a background in mobile or web development, multimedia software development, or personalization or relevance ranking algorithms, it’s a definite plus.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 5+ year relevant work experience
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, Go

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Masters degree in computer science
  • Experience designing and implementing rich web applications using client-side JS frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
