Amazon is seeking an outstanding IT Application Engineer to join Amazon's Human Resources Business Intelligence (HRBI) team to build out the HR Business Intelligence platform. The HRBI team is committed to build the next generation BI platform to support Amazon's rapidly growing workforce, and use it to deliver the BI applications which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision making. Our platform delivers business intelligence to a diverse, global community of internal customers. In this role you will be part of a team of engineers to create world-class People Data warehouse and BI tools for Amazon's expanding global footprint.

As a HR BI Engineer, you will be developing and supporting a BI platform to address some of the unique challenges of an ever-growing workforce. You will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions using third-party technology and Amazon solutions including cloud technologies

A successful candidate knows and loves working with business intelligence tools, is comfortable accessing and working with data from multiple sources, and passionately partners with the business to identify strategic opportunities and deliver results. You should have an internal drive to answer “why?” questions, excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills, as well as superior written and verbal communication skills. S/he would be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Design, implement, and support a platform providing secured access to large datasets.
Interface with global HR customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete BI solutions.
Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting.
Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
Tune application and query performance using profiling tools and SQL.
Analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know when, how, and which to use and which not to use.
Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for secondary datasets
Triage many possible courses of action in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of both quantitative analysis and business judgment.
Report results in a manner which is both statistically rigorous and compellingly relevant.

Basic Qualifications

· 3+ years of relevant experience in business intelligence role, including data warehousing and business intelligence tools, techniques and technology, or experience in analytics, business analysis or comparable consumer analytics solutions.
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or equivalent work experience.
· Good knowledge of SQL, Linux, Oracle and OLAP.
· Knowledge of data warehousing concepts.
· Direct development experience in Microstrategy object layer, reports and dashboards is a must

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of HR data domain

· Knowledge of Big Data Solutions. Experience with Hadoop, Hive or Pig.
· Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Experience with Microstrategy administration
