Job Description

Are you a talented Data Engineer looking for an opportunity to work on building custom, data-driven web applications and empowering analysts to answer some of Amazon’s toughest questions through data? Are you excited about the cloud computing industry, building scalable data infrastructure, and leveraging cutting edge technology? Are you interested in working on a team of engineers to build custom web tools that further the AWS value proposition for customers running on AWS?

At AWS, we look to build data infrastructure and tools that scale both internally and externally for our customers. As a Data Engineer on the AWS Business Development (BD) DevOps team, you’ll work with a team of engineers and analysts focused on building self-service web tools and data infrastructure that add value for internal/external customers from a strategic business perspective.

At Amazon, we obsess over our customers. The AWS BD team has invested a lot of time and effort to understand how AWS can add value for customers from a business perspective. The AWS BD team has manually tested and proven a handful of concepts and now we’re ready to invest engineering resources to build a suite of web tools and data infrastructure that can scale these concepts to external customers and internal AWS employees around the globe. The team’s high-level goal is to build tools and data infrastructure that directly and indirectly promote a deeper relationship with our customers, turning Amazon into a strategic business partner, in addition to being a world-class cloud computing provider. More specifically, the tools you’ll build and support as Data Engineer on the BD Operations team will...
  • Provide internal AWS employees with more insights into customers, with actionable data and reports that enable fast and accurate business decisions
  • Empower analysts to conduct detailed analysis that drive business decisions
  • Enable external AWS customers to programmatically optimize their cloud infrastructure to improve performance and lower cost
As a Data Engineer on the AWS BD Operations team, you’ll own every aspect of the data engineering lifecycle, including infrastructure architecture design, data modeling, creation of ETL jobs, and the deployment to production. In this role, you’ll get the full Amazon engineering experience of defining and implementing end-to-end customer solutions. You will be responsible for selecting the appropriate languages, frameworks, or technologies best suited to solve the problems at hand. Additionally, you’ll have full access to every AWS Service and many other powerful, proprietary Amazon tools for development. Our team follows an agile methodology, to ensure we’re adding value with each iteration. Success will be defined by tools and data infrastructure that meet the functional business requirements and can operate at Amazon’s scale.
If you’ve worked at a startup or similar face-paced environment, excited to work new tools that address complex business problems, and have excellent data engineering skills (data modeling, SQL expert, ETL development, processing “big data”, etc.), then this is the job for you!
