AWS is hiring a Linux DevOps/Systems Engineer for the Intelligence Community’s commercial cloud services!

You will:
• Define, design, and implement multi-tier distributed software applications
• Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles
• Provide deployment and operations support for large multi-tiered distributed software applications
• Independently design and develop tools to aid in operations and automation as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver innovative solutions to complex business and technical challenges.
• Collaborate in a fast paced environment with multiple teams in a dynamic entrepreneurial organization.
• Improve customer experience by providing greater visibility on their bills and manage their cost more efficiently.

• Demonstrate that you can be a solid Linux sys admin, with experience in rolling out application changes to multiple systems in a production environment

Basic Qualifications

This position requires that applicant selected be a U.S. citizen and obtain and maintain a TS/SCI US Government clearance with polygraph. TS/SCI eligibility is not required to start; however, the applicant selected will be subject to a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified national security information. Applicants with a current SSBI, SBPR, or PPR, may be eligible for crossover in accordance with ICPG 704.4.

• 5 years minimum Systems Administration or development experience in Linux/Unix environments
• 3 years minimum experience with at least one of these scripting languages : Ruby, Python, Bash, or Perl
• 3 years minimum of recent experience in deployment, validation, and testing of multi-tiered systems and services
• 1 year of experience with maintaining, managing and troubleshooting production databases (i.e., Oracle, MYSQL, Postgres, etc.) specifically including SQL scripting.
• Must be willing to work on a team whose on-call supports 24x7 operations outside of normal business hours, with ability to drive into workplace for critical events/needs.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or 5 years equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience with automation, database interactions, and support of production applications
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause identification.
• Proven ability to understand large distributed systems, drilling down to code level (such as Java)
• Understanding of web services, workflow modeling, web application development
• Experience in a 24/7 production environment
• Experience with an agile development methodology employing SCRUM (sprints, backlog workoff, sprint tools, etc)
• Masters in CS, Computer Engineering, or related degree (or 7 years equivalent experience)
• Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
• Ability to retain composure under stressful conditions, communicate effectively with a wide array of individuals at Amazon, and get the right things done.
