Job Description

The Amazon Infrastructure team is looking for an experienced, high-caliber software developer to build a massive scale distributed infrastructure. Amazon’s Infrastructure Team is creating one of the largest E-Commerce companies in the world. has millions of customers and developers all over the world who rely on our storage, compute, and virtualized services via Amazon Web Services. Our success depends on our world-class network infrastructure; we're handling massive scale and rapid integration of emergent technologies. Our goal is to become the Infrastructure Platform for the world.

As a Software Development Engineer for Infrastructure you will be building and operating systems that enable us to drive Amazon web services, operate Amazon Infrastructure, and provide an interface for customers (both internal and external) to consume infrastructure directly without human intervention.

To succeed in this role, you must be passionate about delivering high-quality designs and components. You must be creative in solving hard problems in the Infrastructure space and unafraid to think out-of-the-box.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, problem solving, and object-oriented and design
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C, C++, C#
  • 5+ years of relevant development experience in Object-Oriented Design and Service Oriented Architecture
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master degree, preferably in computer science or a similar degree
  • Prior background in operation research and optimization a plus
  • Experience mentoring a team in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
