Job Description

Come help us build a world class video management platform! In addition to handling tens of thousands of video cameras deployed worldwide, the Amazon Video Manager team is applying computer vision and image processing to solve real-world business problems. Our team’s charter is to work with our product fulfillment teams to invent process improvement technology and deploy solutions into the world’s largest retail fulfillment environment. Our team collaborates with a wide variety of customers across Amazon worldwide, to conceive, develop, prototype and deploy a wide range of video based systems.

You have solid engineering skills and are willing to dive in and build scalable systems. In addition, you will collaborate with research scientists to develop and deploy computer-vision-powered process improvement to Amazon facilities worldwide. We need you to contribute to the creation of production quality software to handle streaming video from thousands of IP video cameras, provide an intuitive UI to interact with camera streams and content, and build tools to simplify the support and setup of new cameras.

You will visit Amazon fulfillment centers to observe processes and brainstorm video centric applications to improve them. You will build prototypes and production quality code. You are a person with a commitment to team work, who enjoys working on complex software systems, is customer centric, and thrives on the challenge of building systems that can be operated at world-wide scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
  • 4+ years programming experience in a commercial software environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate with research scientists and engineers
  • C++ and Java programming

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more of the following: codec internals, video quality metrics, open source tools like ffmpeg, mencoder, x264, RTSP, etc.
  • Experience with video playback
  • Ability to convert research code to optimized processing code
