Job Description

Are you interested in developing critical core infrastructure software in an industry leading technology company at a scale unprecedented in the industry today?

We are looking for a software engineer with experience creating robust and scalable services and who would be excited to help build the global infrastructure for Amazon.com. In this position, you will be part of a team that designs and implements the software tools/services to monitor Amazon expanding data center servers and drive disaster recovery. You will be a significant contributor to our team and will have plenty of opportunities to solve complex and broad problems within an environment that is massive, fast-paced, spans multiple data centers and multiple countries, which provides services to many thousands of customers. Successful candidates should be passionate about building enterprise level systems for cloud computing, providing an exceptional customer experience, and writing high quality, well tested, and maintainable code in a fast paced, agile development environment.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science (or equivalent)
- 4+ years of software development experience
- Proficiency with one of the modern programming languages preferably in Java, C#, C/C++, Ruby
- Proficiency with object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Familiarity with web services, distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, and network protocols
- Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions

Preferred Qualifications

- Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems
- Strong customer focus
- Ability to think abstractly
- Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
- Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team
