Job Description

Amazon Kindle is a revolutionary reading device and one of the most innovative and fastest growing businesses at Amazon. We are seeking a passionate, hard-working, and talented software engineering manager who has experience building mission critical software and reusable software libraries to help shape the future of eBooks.

We own the design, architecture, and implementation of a platform to enable reading innovation across file formats and operating systems. Our software supports Kindle customers on all major mobile platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a series of new customer features against project deadlines.
  • Demonstrate innovation and leadership by establishing multi-year roadmaps in a startup-like environment
  • Partner with external teams to ensure upstream and downstream dependencies are met and the overall technology stack operates efficiently
  • Lead high caliber software development talent and create expectations/key deliverables for our cross platform efforts.
  • Deliver a series of new customer features against project deadlines.
  • Partner with external teams to ensure upstream and downstream dependencies are met and the overall technology stack operates efficiently.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3+ years' experience leading teams to deliver large complex software engineering projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrate delivery of innovative projects based on graphics, web, or mobile technologies to the marketplace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders.
  • Superior design and architecture knowledge, as well as familiarity with object oriented design patterns.
  • Engineering process expertise, with a full understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles.
  • Robust project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules.
  • Excellent judgment, organizational, and problem solving skills.
